Whilst there were already some big moves for Serie A, the party most probably has just begun. With some potentially very pricey moves both into Italy and out from Serie A Clubs, this transfer window might have some big surprises coming.
Lets dive right into it:
Top Signing:
Arthur. With a price tag of 72 Million EUR, Arthur is the big transfer for now, although it was more a player exchange with Pjanic leaving to Barca.
Rumour Mill:
Whilst there are some rumours that Juventus might not want to have Ronaldo for one more season (mostly due to an extraordinary salary) with a potential move to PSG, the team also has a few more positions, which are a bit unclear. De Ligt injured (not back before late November earliest) and the aged Bonucci and Chiellini but some options left with Demiral and Rugani – and it might be that Juventus just goes with it.
There are several rumours around strikers, such as Lacazette, Jimenez or Milik – but at this point none of these rumours are of substance. A more likely move might be the young talent McKennie from Schalke/ Bundesliga – as Schalke is in financial difficulties, this might be a realistic one.
Top Signing:
Achraf Hakimi
the right wing back Hakimi joining for 40M EUR certainly is an improvement for Inter and will further strengthen their defense.
Rumour Mill:
out of the rumours around players potentially leaving, Lautaro Martinez certainly is the biggest topic. With a market value around 70 Million, this would be a heavy move that will for sure trigger further movements. Also Brozovic and Skriniar are the topic of some gossip, both with potential moves to Bayern. Much more interesting here are the rumours around players potentially joining the club in Milan. Whilst some wish to see Messi joining (and talking about Messi’s father buying an apartment in Milan) and whilst this certainly would be very interesting with Messi and Ronaldo back in the same league, I do not think this is going to happen.
The most likely move might be Arturo Vidal – right now it even seems possible that his contract at Barca gets terminated, which would make it possible for him to join Inter even without a transfer fee. One thing is for certain though, with Conte on the bench and quite some money in the bank, Inter will still do some big moves and it will be interesting to watch.
Top Signing:
the team
Atalanta is a team that works as a collective and it very much looks like they are able to keep their team. Which in itself is for Atalanta a huge success.
Rumour Mill:
There is not much in the rumour mill for Atalanta so far. With Mancini for AS Roma, but Caldara as a loan from AC Milan the team is nicely prepared for the new season. The only open question seems to be the future of Ilicic. It seems he is currently on leave, fighting depression after he found his wife and mother of two kids cheating on him and there are even rumours he wants to quit football.
Top Signing:
Pepe Reina (AC Milan)
The experienced Reina joining Lazio was (for me) a bit of a surprise, as Strakosha does a very good job during the last two seasons. However, Reina is 37 and maybe was looking for a good spot to end his career and help with all his experience.
Rumour Mill:
Milinkovic-Savic, Luis Alberto and Ciro Immobile are the heavyweights in the Roma team, but for now it seems there wont be much movement. If Lazio is able to keep them, they could again land a good spot in Serie A.
