Bundesliga POTM
The Player of the Month vote is one of the many ways we see football crossover with FIFA 21. The award is given to the player voted to have the best performance for the given month. With the Bundesliga just kicking off this month the vote, which includes 3 Bayern Munich players, will be judged based on the 3 matches played during the month of September. We have already seen the Premier League and La Liga Santander Player of the Month for September won by Everton’s Dominic Calvert Lewin and Barcelona’s Ansu Fati, respectively. We will take a look at this month’s top performers for the Bundesliga.
Andrej Kramaric
Hoffenheim’s Andrej Kramaric scored 5 goals in 3 games for his club, similar to the performance of winner Calvert-Lewin. Hoffenheim sit in 6th place with 6 points, only one point behind league leaders RB Leipzig. The Croatian managed a brace in Hoffenheim’s 3-2 win over Kὅln and in their surprising 4-1 win over Bayern Munich, who sit above them only on goal difference. Kramaric’ 5th goal came in a 2-1 loss at Frankfurt. Kramaric is currently top scorer in the Bundesliga with 6 goals.
Niclas Fullkurg
Werder Bremen also found themselves with 2 wins and one defeat in their 3 opening games. They sit one spot behind Hoffenheim in 7th place. The German netted a hat-trick and the only 3 goals for his side in a win over bottom of the table Schalke.
Leroy Sane
New transfer Leroy Sane is one of 3 players nominated for the Bundesliga’s Player of the Month award for September. Although Sane did not feature in Bayern’s two most recent games, he managed to grab himself a goal and 2 assists. Bayern sit in 4th place tied with 4 other teams on 6 points. They sit level with Hoffenheim, Wereder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund. Sane’s goal contributions all came in 8-0 rout of Schalke, contributing to their -14 goal difference.
Serge Gnabry
One of the top performers for Bayern last year was ex-Arsenal man, Serge Gnabry. The German winger scored a hat trick and received the Man of the Match award for the 8-0 over Schalke in the beginning of September.
Joshua Kimmich
Arguably Bayern’s 2nd best player last season and UEFA midfielder of the year, Joshua Kimmich, seemed to have continued his form from last season. After making the move into midfield from right back, the German international has seemed to find a new groove. Kimmich scored the winning goal in the German Super cup match against Borussia Dortmund as well as assisting two of the eight goals against Schalke.
Sasa Kalajdzic
Bundesliga newcomers, VFB Stuttgart, have managed 4 points from their first 3 matches. The standout player for the newly promoted side has been their target man, Sasa Kalajdzic. Their number 9 scored a goal in each of Stuttgart’s games during the month of September and continued his form scoring in the first week of October in a 1-1 draw with Leverkusen. Stuttgart currently sit 8th in the table. Kaladjzic added an assist along with his 2 goals in September in a win over Mainz and a loss to Freiburg.
