TOTW 13 – PREDICTION
After last weeks terrible TOTW we should see a much better showing this week, with Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Benzema and Firminho all in with a chance of recieving a boosted card.
GK – Samir Handanovic – Inter Milan captain helped his side helped his side keep the pressure on city rival’s AC at the top of Serie A with a 1-0 victory over a strong Napoli side.
Captain Handanovic produced a string of fantastic saves including some fine ones from Insigne, Politano and Di Lorenzo.
He was his sides MOTM as they secured the win.
CB – Yerry Mina – After keeping Jamie Vardy and Co at bay mid-week Everton hosted Arsenal who were in desperate need of a win.
Pepe levelled for the visiting side ,10 minutes after on the stroke of half time Mina lost his man heading past Leno at the front post.
A goal which no doubt changed both managers team talks.
Solid as ever in the centre on the defence he helped his side grind out a very important 2-1 win.
CB – Unai Nunez – Bilbao hosted Huesca in La Liga. The game was very even until 4 minutes, both teams defensive line holding their own and looking hard to break down.
An 86th minute penalty saw Bilbao take the lead.
This before the knockout blow in stoppage time, Nunez capping off a fine performance with a goal after finding himself free 8 yards out.
He made no mistake and flicked his header across the keeper, finding the back of the net.
RM – Gerard Moreno – Villarreal travelled to Osasuna and were ahead early on from the man himself.
Gerard Moreno perfecting his chip over the keeper just 7 minutes in.
Osasuna were reduced to 10 men and soon after 2-0 down.
Villarreal could have been 3 or 4 up before giving up a soft penalty.
Luckily for them Moreno was on target again, this time from a floating cross to slide and hit home a half volley in the 86th minute to secure the 3 points and add his 2nd and his sides 3rd.
LM – Moussa Diaby – Koln hosted Leverkusen in the Bundasliga midweek.
Leverkusen running out 4-0 winners thanks to the great performance of Diaby.
He executed a counter attack perfectly, picking the ball up on 10 minutes inside his own half before running past the backing off defenders and curling a fine effort beyond the Koln keeper.
Diaby found himself in space on the left using his pace to leave the defenders stranded before putting in a driven cross to find a teammate who made no mistake of firing home.
CDM – Scott Mctominay – Manchester United hosted a very strong and free flowing Leeds United side.
An old rivalry united once more. Mctominay opened the scoring within 2 minutes with a superb right footed effort out swinging into the bottom corner of the net.
He couldn’t believe his luck less than a minute later when he found himself through on goal, slotting it past the Leeds United keeper to double his sides lead. His passion and determination made him an anchor in his sides midfield who despite being 4-0 could have easily been 4-0 down.
Mctominay got himself an assist after riding a number of challenges, he cut back inside and found the feet of Daniel James who beat his man and fire past the keeper.
United, Manchester that is ran out 6-2 winners and march on.
CAM – Kevin Prince-Boateng – Ex Barcelona player Kevin Prince-Boateng was at hand in his sides 5-0 dispatch of Virtus Entella in Serie B.
He helped grabbing himself a brace in the victory despite only playing 68 minutes.
He will be hoping to keep this fine form up and help his side move up the league table.
ST – Cristiano Ronaldo – Cristiano Ronaldo still shows no sign of old age as his Juventus side travelled to Parma hoping to keep up their unbeaten start to the season.
Ronaldo showed why he is one of the best players in Europe climbing highest to head home to doble his sides lead. Juventus squandered more chances in the first half.
But shortly after half time the man CR7 was there after being threaded through from Ramsey to fire a low shot past the Parma keeper.
Juventus ran out 4-0 winners to keep up their blistering start to the season.
Ronaldo keeps scoring goals and performing despite approaching his 36th birthday.
ST – Robert Lewandowski – Two games and 4 goals this week puts Lewandowski in poll position for a TOTW this week.
The second game seen a Bayern side needing a win against a high-flying Leverkusen side.
It was less than 15 minutes into the game when the champions found themselves behind for the 7th League game in a row.
A mix up between keeper and centre back saw Lewandowski gifted a goal to nod into an empty net minutes before half time.
Bayern left it even later to score in the second half when 14 seconds from time another defensive mistake saw Kimmich intercept and pass it to the goal machine whose curling effort took a fortunate deflection and beat the stranded keeper, giving his side all 3 points, a game in which they had the rub of the green, the German Giants will not mind.
CF – Karim Benzema – Madrid played a strong Bilbao side but the inform Kroos open the scoring for the Galactico’s before Capa made the most of a scramble to level the scores.
It wasn’t until the 74th minute when Real would regain their lead with Benzema powering in and powering his header past the keeper.
Benzema again turned and fired home right footed past the keeper in the 93rd minute to give Zidane’s men all 3 points in their home stadium.
ST – Roberto Firmino – Carrying on where he left off from his last-minute winner vs Tottenham in the clash at the top midweek to be in fine form as his side brushed aside Crystal Palace.
A match which they made look easy, Liverpool are determined to show even without VVD they are still a force at the top.
2 minutes in Minamino opened the scoring for Liverpool before Mane doubled their lead with a trademark no look pass from Bobby Firmino.
Another mesmerizing Liverpool counter attack saw Andy Robertson deliver into the path of Firmino who poked it past the inform Guaita bringing him right back down to earth.
After a Jordan Henderson strike after half time, it was Bobby again who made it 5-0 after a pass from the sub Mo Salah he chipped it home.
A late brace from Salah saw his side run out 7-0 winners.
